The Carol Board

We just got another white board for our office. With the number of concurrent campaigns going on Nuffnang, Carol who’s in charge of coordinating the timing of a lot of the campaigns has been going crazy.

So to help her out we had this new board installed just for her.

Project 365: Day 51, 7th April 2009
I tell you it’s a joke. The first time we got a quote for this board it was like RM1,800. Then we called another 3 companies and the last one we found quoted RM600++. Very big difference for
the same quality board.

We call it the Carol board.

Project 365: Day 52, 8th April 2009
I think Carol this morning looked a lot less stressed with a board now to write on.

Partying at Mist

A few Saturdays ago, Princess and I had a quick dinner then went home to dress up. The occasion: Meeting some friends for some drinking and of course dancing at this new club in Bangsar called The Mist.
I was impressed with Princess. I’ve been clubbing with her a few times but this was the first time she didn’t try to push the limit for the word “slutty” in her dressing.
You should see the other outfits she sometimes wears… really really not funny if you’re the protective bf. Whatever it is though, I always decided to let her wear whatever she felt comfortable wearing.
When we got to the club, the friends we were looking to meet were already there waiting. KY, Ringo, Jammie, Huai Bin and Suanie to kick it off.
We stayed outside for a while to talk cock a little and take some pictures until I finally made the move to usher everyone in.

The nice people at The Mist had already prepared us a table and they put us up at what I think was the best spot in the whole club. It was in the VIP area upstairs and the table sat on some balcony overlooking the club below and the entire dance floor. They even prepared enough glasses to have an entire army sit and drink there.

Just like many other clubbing nights, it normally starts slow with everyone sober and taking nice civilized pictures like this.

But after some whiskey, beer and some shots we took, people started acting like this.
And it certainly didn’t help that Princess went around with an entire tray of these shots getting everyone to down as many as they could.
Just a little past midnight the club began to really fill up. Check out the view.

There are a few things that are important to me every time I go clubbing to make sure I actually have good fun.
1) Constant flow of drinks… CHECK
2) Good music… definitely CHECK. The DJ that night was pretty good. You know how sometimes you get into a club when it’s still early like 11.30PM and you’re not warmed up yet but the DJ starts playing all your favourite songs like Cookie Jar, or Kanye’s West Harder Faster Stronger?
Then you want to dance but you don’t because nobody else is dancing yet and you don’t feel like you’ve had enough to drink yet.
Well the DJ at Mist started off with some pretty new RnB songs in the beginning but towards the end when the party heated up and when he recognized that everyone was getting drunk, he played all the best RnB songs that you just go crazy over.
I went wild!
See all of us dancing near the wall in this picture? (you can’t see me cuz Huai Bin was blocking me).
That night I learned that Cindy also damn party animal that girl.
3) Finally, the most important thing to having fun any time you go out at night is the company. And that night we had great company.. people who weren’t afraid to dance and make fun of themselves.
Halfway through the night one of the owners of the club came by to say Hi.
Meet Logan!
One of the ex-national Hockey players.
Logan saw us already half drunk and all but I think he decided it wasn’t enough so he ordered us another round of shots.
The sheer number of shot glasses that came in after was enough to make Ginny go
“No no no !!!! No more…”
But it didn’t stop Princess and Cindy.
Heck that’s the thing about being a girl and going clubbing with your boyfriend. When a girl goes clubbing on her own she tries not to drink too much for fear that she might do something stupid she would regret later on.
But when the BF is there… it’s like… “ANYTHING GOES LAH!!! MY BF WILL TAKE CARE OF ME!!! If I try to kiss a stranger he will stop me,  If I pass out here he will carry me home… so YAM SENG!”
She had the cheek to tell me at the end of the night also that she felt the shots she had were not strong enough to get her high.
We ended the night high, but very very happy… 🙂
PS: If you’re looking to go to Mist anytime soon there are going to be two international DJs spinning there. DJ Dirty South on the 18th April and DJ Perplex on the 25th April.

Princess Buys Dinner & My Workstation

Time to upload my Project 365.

Last night Princess bought me and her parents dinner to celebrate her getting confirmed at her workplace 🙂

Project 365: Day 49, 5th April 2009

It was my first time at Tenji. There were so many people there all queuing up like they were giving out free food.
Thank you for the great dinner Princess.
This other picture is a random picture I just took of my computer and keyboard at work.

Presents We Buy

Hello everybody!

Guess who! (not Boss Stewie)

He uploaded all these photos into Blogger and naively went to drink fruit juice.

HAHA!  Forgot that I’m just skulking around trying to take over his life wtf.

ohnonowhe’sdraggingmeoffthechairsomebodydosomethinggggg

saraslfralskfjaskfalqfaklf

————–

Sorry please ignore the above. Princess was being silly… always trying to mess with my things when I’m away.

Okay today I’m going to blog about… the presents we buy. I think my blog has somehow reached a whole new level of mushyness lately. You know you have a problem when someone refers to being mushy to “Doing the Timothy Tiah”. Fuck this shit!

————–

HAHA!  He’s gone again!

Went to take a shit it’s about time!

Every time he farts I feel like blacking out!

oh shit he’s done WHY SO FAST BRB

————–

NIAMA THIS STUPID PRINCESS!!! Keeps touching my laptop! Whatever happened to a man’s holy ground!

Anyway… where was I.

*scrolls up*

Okay last Saturday afternoon, Princess dragged me again to do what every man waits his whole life to do: Watch his woman get fake eyelash extensions…. this time it wasn’t just one hour… the whole process took 2 whole hours.

To make matters worse, the usual stool that they had me to sit on wasn’t available this time so I had to go wander around 1-Utama myself for 2 whole hours! I think that’s ridiculous! Desmond was just telling me the other day how the place he takes his wife for manicure has a nice sofa and plasma TV there for him to watch while he waits.

All I wanted was a stool… A TINY STOOL TO REST MY BUTTOCKS WHILE I WAIT!!! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK!?!?

So okay off I was all around 1-Utama with 2 hours to kill. I went to MPH, to the Body Shop, even to Jusco to buy some groceries and after all that shit I noticed that only 1 hour and 20 minutes had passed! Time never ever passes slower when you’re trying to kill it.

Then just after I had bought some groceries at Jusco I walked past Speedy and I suddenly thought about Princess.

I thought about how she always told me that being a Beatles fan she loved a musical called “Across the Universe”. I had never heard of it before in my life neither did I think I would actually like it but every time we came across a DVD shop she would go and look for it but always failing.

With some time to kill and with the heavy groceries I was carrying I walked into Speedy and started looking what Princess had always failed in finding. Eventually I found it! “Across the Universe” but they didn’t have the DVD, only the VCD. Good enough for me!

I bought it then went to have it wrapped by the time I picked her up from the beauty parlor.

In the car on the way home I told her that I had a little present for her and I gave it to her but telling her that she wasn’t allowed to open it until tonight.

She couldn’t take the suspense and the curiosity. She kept saying “What?? WHY?? Why can’t I open it now ?? Pleasee!!!!!”

I said
“No… I just want to give you something to look forward to tonight before you go to bed.”

Project 365: Day 48, 4th April 2009

She argued back
“But I’m spending the night at your place… I already have something to look forward to tonight!”

I denied it only to realize that I think I almost picked a fight with her
“No lahhh… I think you’re probably used to spending nights at my place already so you don’t look forward to it anymore. It’s just something you’ve gotten used to and probably take for granted now”.

She merajuked and said
“WHAT?! I STILL DO!! HMPH!! FINE… I won’t open the present. FOREVER!”

Girls always like to take things to the extreme when they have arguments, I mean not opening the present.. forever?. Something I notice. I sayanged her back and fine by the time we got home I allowed her to open her present.

She never guessed what it was… and she ended the day happy.

I guess if anything.. I now believe that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to be romantic to your other half. All you have to do… is listen…

Vernice’s Birthday

Edit: Vernice is sad because I forgot to link her! So here!

All the Nuffies (except Raff) went for dinner today at TGIF in Pavilion to celebrate Vernice’s birthday. Talked a lot of cock and we played some very stupid games over the dinner table which resulted in me laughing so hard my eyes started tearing I started wheezing. I had to whip out my ventolin inhaler and take a few puffs.

Project 365: Day 47, 3rd April 2009

Then halfway through we all sang a birthday song and made Vernice stand on a chair and give a speech. We gave a salt shaker to act as her mic.
At the end of the night, Nicholas told me that so far for 2009, today was the day he laughed the hardest.

Alcohol While Working and One Big Pillow Fight!

Guess what we’re all doing in this picture?

Project 365: Day 46, 2nd April 2009
Believe it or not… we’re all working… and talking about work stuff.
Seriously… this bar was the place that I had a meeting with clients this afternoon but the way we were all positioned almost makes this look like we’re in some Tiger Beer ad. You can just really picture all of us turning to the camera holding up our glasses of beer and saying “Enjoy Winning” (that’s Tiger’s tagline btw).
We have our Nuffnang Music Bash powered by Maxis Broadband tomorrow and there we were in the bar already planning our next big Nuffnang event.
Speaking of events, just before our Nuffnang Music Bash tomorrow there’ll be a pillow fight in conjunction with International Pillow Fight Day that Pierre got Corntoz (Mamee’s new product) to sponsor.

Yes there is actually a day that is dedicated to pillow fights internationally. Seriously… one day I’m going to start an “International Play XBOX with GF Sitting Next To You Day“. I’m sure Princess will be very supportive of that.

Pierre in bringing in Corntoz as a sponsor to this big pillow fight had a good idea. Corntoz didn’t just sponsor the event for namesake. They’re giving out pillow cases that are made to look like giant Corntoz packs which is almost as good as my idea to make pillow cases that look like giant condoms (almost Pierre… almost)….I was thinking of dropping by and bringing Princess along but I’m kinda afraid that with her size, Princess would get clobbered so hard she might just become Fourfeeteight. Then I really would have to buy her a mini-ladder for her to climb just to kiss me.

If you wanna be a part of the big pillow fight, join the Facebook group here.
Update: I just got word from Pierre that Corntoz didn’t manage to get the pillow cases made in time =(… so no Corntoz pillow cases.. just regular pillows to whack one another.

Project 365: Day 45, 1st April 2009

Went to watch the Premiere of Fast & Furious last night at Cineleisure.

Such a great movie, I thought Vin Diesel is the epitome of masculine men! Princess thinks he’s ugly though.
Took a picture right after the movie with Princess and KY.
Funny thing I saw while at The Curve last night. There were two dudes sitting on the stairs leading up to Cineleisure. They were sitting there and whenever some random chicks walk past, one of them would do that lip whistling sound to get her attention. When the girl turned around to look, he would pat the floor next to him with his hand indicating that he’s asking her to come sit with them and talk.
So far I saw a couple of girls and they both ignored him. But for them to keep trying this.. it must work on some girls right? Otherwise why would they keep trying?
Does it?

What I’ve been up to…

I’ve been really busy these few days so I’m going to do quick updates on some things that I’ve been up to lately.
1. My mum came down to KL to pay me a visit. She stayed with me and we had plenty of good food when mum’s around. She loved the Sony Vaio I bought her and to show her thanks she insisted she buy me a nice Korean BBQ dinner.

Project 365: Day 43, 30th March 2009

2. I learned that Princess is still terrified of my mother. I guess it doesn’t help that we intentionally try to get each other in trouble with each of our parents (the both of us have sick ways of having fun). The other day on the way to her home for dinner I made a totally harmless joke and called her Dad by his first name: Eng Hong. She laughed about it and all.
Then 20 minutes later we were at her place for dinner and I was helping her mum set the table. She then intentionally told her mum “Eh Mummy, you know just now Tim called dad Eng Hong”.
At first her mum let out a chuckle, then she realized that she shouldn’t be laughing. So she reprimanded me
“Very brave ah you!”
And I just went
“NOoooooooo!!!!!”.
Then I muttered to Princess later on… “You watch out.. my mum’s coming this weekend”.
And I really got her good. Take that Baby!
(I just remembered that tonight I’m having dinner with her parents again… FUCK!… BABY NO PLEASE DON’T!!! LOVE IS KIND… LOVE IS FORGIVING!!!!)
3. Went with Carol to the Skype – MOL Access Berhad signing ceremony today where Kim and Ringo gave a speech about how they use Skype to maintain their long distance relationships. They both advocated LDRs…. that it really works.

Project 365: Day 44, 31st March 2009

HMPH.. Boss Stewie says NO to LDRs!!!
Both Kim and Ringo were like celebrities there. Everyone wanting to take pictures with them.

When I met some of the people there and introduced myself, at least 3 of them said

“Wow! You look really young? How old are you? I imagined Timothy Tiah to be a lot older”.

Yes I get that a lot unfortunately. Once I even walked into a meeting with Nicholas (who looks a little older than me) and the people we were meeting immediately extended their hands out to Nicholas and said
“Hi.. you must be Timothy”.
Nicholas laughed and said
“Uhh.. nooo… THAT is Timothy“… and pointed my way.
Yes… I look like a school boy.
4. Ringo showed me her new Coach bag that she bought as a birthday present to herself lately.

She told me that I should buy something good for myself too when my birthday comes. Problem is I’m not sure what… I can’t think of anything that I can afford that I actually really really want.
5. I turned down a chance to be on TV this morning. I was supposed to be on this talk show about the internet but I figured that all the questions that I would be asked is something a lot of people with enough online exposure would have answers to. I didn’t think I would be adding value to the show at all so I told the producer that I think she could find someone better suited. I didn’t want to go on air just for the sake of going on air.
5. Three people I had met in the past week alone told me that I look very exhausted and stressed lately. Even top blogger Desmondkiu had the same thing to say.
Do you guys think so?
Sigh.. maybe I am the most stressed out 24 year old in the country. Part of my stress is coming from finding the right people to hire. The workload at Nuffnang now is immense and everyone is so damn overworked that we desperately need a bigger team.
Problem is we’ve interviewed so many but still can’t find someone that we all love like Pinky.
6. Was just in the office and I started feeling a bit hungry since it’s nearing dinner. I walked over to the Nuffies on the other side of the office over to Andrea and said
“Andrea… how would you like to do something very important for the survival of Nuffnang?”
She saw right through me.
Then she replied
“What? Get you food?”
With everything out in the open I said
“Yes! Letting me starve will be bad for the company right? So please! Go down and help buy me a packet of Mamee please!”
Then Shalyn who was sitting next to Andrea looked over at me and asked
“What? One Mamee only? Is that enough to keep you full?”
HMPH!!!
WHAT AM I GIRLS?!?! AN OBESE FISHBALL!?!?
I DON’T CARE!!! EVERYONE’S WORKING LATE TONIGHT!!!
7. Oh I forgot one last thing… I’ve just started planning another surprise for Princess today but it’s something that will only take place in the next few months. All the work involved…

Earth Hour!

Okay before I start my entry today, allow me to update my Project 365 pictures.
Had lunch with Kim, Suanie and KY on Saturday. We ate at this Nasi Lemak place that had plastic tables and chairs extended out on to the road like a typical Mamak. Halfway through our lunch we heard a loud roaring sound approaching us from the distance.
We looked over to our right only to see a gigantic Alam Flora garbage truck.
In that moment of crisis I looked down at my half-eaten food to see if I could save it from being exposed to the stench that was going to be onto us in the next 30 seconds. I thought of running away with my plate but realized that I wouldn’t get very far.
Defeated… I just took out my camera and snapped a picture of the garbage truck passing us with Kim holding her nose.

Project 365: Day 41, 28th March 2009

To make up for it, I made sure I ate dinner today somewhere indoors and away from all garbage trucks. Had dinner with Princess at Jake’s in Starhill.

Yesterday Princess and I took part in Earth Hour, something I once thought I would never do. I first heard about Earth Hour 1-2 years ago when it first started off. I heard about how people in some cities around the world were turning off their lights to show unity in fighting global warming and I thought it was a stupid idea.
What is the point of turning off your lights for one hour when each one of those cities were going to have their lights on the other 8,759 hours of the year?
Then towards the end of last year Abinesh from WWF came over to my office to see me. He reintroduced Earth Hour to me and showed me this very inspiring video.

Then without me even having to ask he addressed a number of my concerns and doubt I had in my mind. I learned that it wasn’t about the energy you save in that one hour (though that’s pretty substantial considering the number of cities that take part all around the world). It was about all of us in the simplest possible way voicing out our concerns to World Leaders that we all think something had to be done about Global Warming.
So if the whole city of Sydney shut off their lights then as a world leader you gotta know that this is some indication that the people of Sydney want something done because hey, if you don’t give a shit about global warming then why suffer the discomfort of having your lights off for a full hour?
Some people say that Earth Hour is just a publicity stunt and they’re right! It IS a publicity stunt aimed at getting the attention of everyone around the world, educating us and having us start discussions about Global Warming, that is if anything a good thing if you ask me. Even if you thought Earth Hour was a total waste of time, it did at least at one point make you think about global warming.
WWF Malaysia won my support both personally and via Nuffnang Malaysia. Nuffnang served out ads to increase exposure of Earth Hour and Nuffnangers who supported it started writing about it on their own blogs. During Earth Hour, the Nuffnang Malaysia site was temporarily taken down in support of it.
On a personal level, I spent my Earth Hour at home with Princess. 5 minutes before 8.30PM, I turned off all the lights and Princess and I went out to the balcony to watch the lights of KL Tower go off.
At 8.30PM sharp it went off as planned but the joke was I looked at all the other apartment buildings around me and just about all of them still had their lights brightly on. One of my neighbours even had his apartment lit up so brightly it almost looked as if aliens from space just landed their flying saucer inside.
Princess sounded a bit defeated when she said
“I knew this wouldn’t work in Malaysia”.
After spending some 15 minutes on the balcony Princess and I went back into my room and lay in bed the remainder of the hour talking and laughing in the dark. We decided that the best way to avoid any accidents in the dark like knocking over something was to stay in bed as long as we can.
We took some pictures too.
At first we tried to take a picture without the camera flash.
But that obviously didn’t work.
So we turned on the flash which temporarily blinded me.
If you’re wondering why Princess looked a little pissed, it was because I took many many pictures trying to get a proper shot in the dark and she was getting very agitated by the flash.
After Earth Hour I went over to my computer and left this on my Facebook only to have some of my friends immediately reply me.
Looks like there were a lot of other people out there who didn’t take part too but I think Earth Hour is all just a matter of personal preference or belief. If you believe in it then great, if you don’t then it’s okay. Not taking part in Earth Hour doesn’t in any way mean that you don’t care about global warming and climate change.
To everyone who were part of Earth Hour and to WWF Malaysia, a job well done in pulling this together. Perhaps KL wasn’t as dark as Sydney during Earth Hour but it certainly got a lot of people talking about global warming in these few weeks leading up to Earth Hour.
And that after all is what really matters… not how many lights we turned off in that hour, but how many people we get talking and thinking about global warming. Once the education process of it is done… then we’re all in a much better position to take action against it.
