Weekend in Penang

Whew! The weekend is over… what a weekend indeed. Let me tell you what I’ve been doing in as small a nutshell as possible.
Friday I was at Jia Meei‘s birthday party at this Indonesian restaurant in a Kampung off Penchala Link.
Jia Meei’s old now…. think she turned like 60 that day. Happy 60th Birthday Jia Meei!
Project 365: Day 61, 17th April 2009
Saturday morning came and I headed back to Penang just for a night to see my parents. I haven’t been back to Penang in a long time. My parents wished that I could stay longer but I have just got way too much work to do in KL to extend my stay.
*sigh*
Anyway I went with Princess to Batu Feringgi last night to walk around and I accidentally stepped on her slipper while she was just lifting up her foot to take another step.
I successfully tore her slipper into two.
Princess looked down at her slipper for a while looking a little sad.

Project 365: Day 62, 18th April 2009
Then she looked up at me and her face changed from sad to the stare of a glaring witch. I could almost feel everyone around me backing away trying to stay away from what Princess was going to do to me for tearing her slipper.
I could’ve sworn I saw lightning light up the sky behind her while she gave me that glare. I barely survived Saturday night.
Sunday morning came and I was already packing to head back to KL. Before I left Penang my mum prepared something my family refers to as Mee Fan Koh for me for lunch. I don’t know if anyone else has this but in hokkien they call it “Mee Hun Kuey”.
Project 365: Day 63, 19th April 2009
It’s basically flour in pork-based soup. I used to eat this almost every Sunday since I was a little boy. Nothing like mum’s cooking! 🙂

Shopping at Pavilion

Two weekends ago, Princess and I went to shop in Pavilion. We normally shop in Sungai Wang because everything there is cheaper but we had just gotten our pay cheques not long ago being the beginning of the month so we were feeling rich.
We decided to go somewhere with class and shop with all the tai tai’s. We went kai kai around Bukit Bintang and settled for Pavilion.
Upon getting to Pavilion and looking at the people around us we began to notice something amiss. We were at a very high class place… but dressed extremely LOW CLASS.
Princess was wearing shorts with a Hello Kitty T-shirt.
And I was dressed in jeans, sneakers and a Stewie T-shirt that said “I’d love to stay and chat but you’re a total bitch!”.
So low class that they wouldn’t let me anywhere near the Ferrari they had on display.
Nevertheless, we decided that we weren’t dressed the part but we were going to try to act the part. So we very nonchalantly walked into the Tag Heuer shop near the Bukit Bintang entrance.
When we walked in there were some other middle-aged men checking out the watches and the staff there were helping them try on some watches.
We walked in and smiled at everyone around us but nobody really paid us any attention. Then I tried to get a bit more attention by going nearer to some of the watches and pretending to be interested.
Finally a saleswoman there came over to help.
Acting the part, I asked to see one of the watches that were in the glass case right below my elbow. She took out the watch and I tried it on then asked how much.
The saleswoman replied
“This one is RM8,000”.
I NEARLY VOMITED BLOOD but I reminded myself that I was playing the part so I pretended to say
“Oh… that’s not very expensive at all… right Princess?”
And turned to Princess. Princess played along and nodded.
I was hoping Princess would play along even more and say something that would make us look like Aristocrats. You know… perhaps say
“Darling… we have to hurry. Remember you have to meet the guys to play Polo later”.
But she did none of that. All she did was sit down on the chair and look at herself in the mirror while adjusting her fringe like a schoolgirl!
Seriously Baby! You gave us both away!
To make matters worse, I was looking at one of the watches there when I got a phone call from my brother. So I was holding my phone with one hand and holding the watch with the other when I accidentally dropped the watch on the glass panel.
I heard a loud “PIAANG” (nothing broke fortunately).
And I just went
“Whoooops…”
The expression on the salesgirl’s face was priceless. The minute I picked up the watch and put it down again on the leather mat she quickly grabbed it to keep it away from me.
I could almost tell what was running through her mind at the time
“Fucking college kid… get out of my damn shop already before you break something you can’t afford”.
So Princess and I quickly excused ourselves by saying the usual goodbye line to salesgirls
“I’ll come back later”.
We left the Tag shop and started walking around. Princess then decided that she wanted to make an entrance at the Gucci shop. So Hello Kitty and Stewie went to Gucci.

Damn shy okay? But we decided to be brave anyway!
We walked in then quickly walked one round in the shop and darted for the exit before they called on two big bouncers to throw us out.
At the end of the day Princess and I left Pavilion feeling very unaccomplished. Even with our newly received pay cheques, we still couldn’t afford to buy almost everything in Pavilion except for the egg tart in the basement.
But we HAD to buy something from Bukit Bintang! For bragging rights if anything!
So we walked out of Pavilion down the road into a 7-11 in an alley nearby and I bought Princess an ice-cream. Fortunately Princess isn’t materialistic.

An ice-cream was all that was necessary to make Hello Kitty happy.
And making Hello Kitty happy is all that you need to make Stewie happy.

Fu Chuk!

*On the way to Ipoh Yong Tau Foo for a Nuffie lunch
Me: Sue… I have something very serious to ask of you to do for me.

Sue: Yes Boss?

Me: If you get there before me, make sure you order a LOT of fu chuk ok? Make sure ar!!!

Sue: HAHAHAHA Boss I thought what serious thing you wanted me to do!

Me: This is serious. Do I look like I’m laughing to you?
So uhmmm…

Project 365: Day 60, 16th April 2009

This is how 20 pieces of Fu Chuk looks like.

MSN Blooper

Vernice is one of our designers in the Nuffnang Team. Every day she comes to work and she sees me do stupid things like do a little rain dance whenever I want to celebrate something. Deep inside I know she slaps herself on her forehead and asks herself why she works for a Boss like that… rather than one of those typical more serious Bosses she can learn to respect.

Today I made things worse.
I was sending Princess some lovey dovey messages on MSN when I found out that I had mixed up the chat windows and accidentally sent it to Vernice instead right after I was talking to her about some deadlines on some serious work stuff.

Project 365: Day 58, 14th April 2009
*sigh*
Vernice… I will understand if you’ve had enough and want to resign tomorrow =(
PS: If you’re wondering why my nick on MSN is “Fridge Magnet”. It’s an analogy I used with Princess once in telling her how sticky I am/we are. So her MSN nick is Fridge, and mine is Fridge magnet.

Drawing The Line

Today Princess tried to cross the railing again on her own.
This time she tried to make like a torpedo and roll over.

Project 365: Day 57, 13th April 2009
It didn’t work though. She got stuck again, I took another picture…. and then got beaten by Princess again later on for not helping her up before I took a picture 🙁
—————–
Tonight I’m going to blog about something I talked about with some friends a few nights ago. We talked about it over dinner and they insisted after that I share it on my blog.

We were all talking about this friend of ours who constantly makes the mistake of being close friends with girls that he likes but never gets.

Here’s what happens to this friend.
Boy meets Girl. Boy becomes really nice to Girl and eventually going to the extent of chauffeuring girl around, paying for Girl’s meals,
bringing her shopping and following her everywhere she wants to go. Boy thinks that by being nice to Girl, Girl would get the signal that he likes her and respond.
Chances are… yes.. girl does eventually get the signal. But she doesn’t really like Boy enough to jump into a relationship with him. She does like the attention she gets though so why not keep him around? (Though most girls I know out there are nice enough to let the guy go if she really has no interest in him rather than lead him on). Boy would probably do the same too if he were in her position.
Things start getting out of hand and boy starts making drastic sacrifices for girl. Even once driving girl all the way to the house of a guy that girl likes and leaving her there to spend the night.
This story hasn’t ended yet but you know where it will go anyway. Girl finds someone better, and Boy gets left empty-handed.
What was Boy’s problem?
FAILING TO DRAW THE LINE…. and eventually ending up in girl’s “friend zone”, a point of almost no return (Not sure if this friend zone exists for guys too but at least for me it does. Once a girl goes into my friend zone…. there’s no turning back).
Let me take my story with Princess for example. Princess and I started off as best friends. We were really really great friends who talked a lot on MSN and made each other laugh till we cried bucket. Then one day when Ming was down in KL I introduced Princess to him and asked him what he thought of this really good friend of mine.
His reply was
“I think it’s great and all… but if you just remain friends with her, I think one day you’ll keep wondering what it would’ve been like if you did get into a relationship with her.”
I thought about it for a while and decided that he was right.
So one day after a night of clubbing with friends I stopped the car in a car park and had a talk with Princess. I told her what Ming told me and I told her that I didn’t want to have to live my life with that regret of wondering what if.
I went on to tell her that I wasn’t expecting anything from her and I’m in no hurry to jump into another relationship at all. All I wanted to do was to tell her that I wanted to be more than friends with her if not now, eventually.
The next thing I did was to tell Princess that while I will chase her and wait for her for a while… I wouldn’t wait forever and I won’t tell her how long I will try for. I mean the last thing you want a girl to do after you open up is know that you’re really into her and take her time before jumping into a relationship with you right?
Princess kept asking me how long I would court her for before I gave up but I refused to tell her. Hahaha.. if I told her 6 months she would have waited all the way till the last day of the 6th month before she kissed me. Right Princess??? Or at least you would’ve made me wait longer 🙂
So you just gotta tell her that you will only wait and try so for so long. Little did Princess know that I would’ve waited for her FOREVER 🙂
That overall conversation was necessary because it drew the line. From that moment or at least shortly after that moment I stopped being a friend and started being… a potential boyfriend and it worked (What happened after that and who kissed who first and all that is a story I’ll tell another day).
There’s another way of doing what I did. The more common and blunt way and that is to just make a move on the girl and see her reaction. Hold her hand or something, or even try to kiss her. That’s a far more aggressive move but the problem with that is if you get rejected, you can forget about being friends with the girl. This really wouldn’t matter of course if you didn’t like that girl very much in the first place but I liked Princess very much so that’s not a road I took.
How do you not like a girl who looks so cute when she sips Coke.
So that night we talked about how everyone should forget all the other advice you hear from movies and books that tell you things like you should treat a girl bad or neg her if you want her to like you or go crazy over you. That may apply for girls in other parts of the world but back here in Malaysia, if you treat a girl bad she’ll take offense to that and probably kick you in the nuts.
Treat a girl good like how she really deserves to be treated…. but draw the line.

One Good Weekend!

I just had one really good weekend and I’m going to describe it in a few pictures to catch up with my Project 365.
Okay it started with a simple dinner with Princess on Friday night at San Francisco Steakhouse in KLCC to celebrate our 6 months of being together. That’s gotta be one of my favourite restaurants. Very reasonably priced steak and a beautiful view of the KLCC fountain.
Came home after dinner and lay in bed to talk. We never seem to run out of things to talk about.
Project 365: Day 54, 10th April 2009
Then Saturday came and Princess and I woke up around lunch time. We headed to Sungai Wang for a while to meet up with Jia Meei and Litat.
I was supposed to follow Princess around shopping but since Gin and Leon were around I asked them to come over to my place later in the afternoon so we can play some XBOX. I left Princess to shop in Sungai Wang with Jia Meei who then dropped her off at my place after they were done.

So that’s right, I spent the whole afternoon playing my trusty XBOX!!!
Then at night Princess and I went for dinner with Gin and Leon at Pavilion.

Project 365: Day 55, 11th April 2009
They went off to Phuture after dinner but Princess and I weren’t in the mood for clubbing last night. We decided instead to stay home and watch a movie.
Sunday morning came and I had to go to NST to give a talk on this blogging workshop they were having there. I was there to talk about Nuffnang and how some bloggers earn money from blogs.
After the talk we came back to my place to watch a movie. I watched as Princess attempted to take a short cut and climb over this railing.
Project 365: Day 56, 12th April 2009
Once she got to this position she suddenly realized that the ground was a lot more far down than she thought then she froze and screamed for help. I thought it would make a funny picture so I took out my camera first and took this picture before I helped her out.
After I saved her, she hit me and scolded me for taking a picture of her in a time of crisis instead of helping her.
Spent the afternoon watching Marley & Me…. really enjoyed it. I really liked how the show followed the life of a newly married couple who went on then to have a dog, kids and go through all the struggles of life as a family.
After the movie I talked to Princess about having a dog one day. I want one of those cute little ones like a Shih-Tzu. I’ll call her “Gummy” or something.
Princess on the other hand (in her own words) wants a “big stupid-looking dog” that she can “slap on a saddle and ride like a horse”.

I don’t know who’s gonna give in. Maybe we’ll both compromise and get a monkey instead.
Tomorrow is Monday…. another week begins. Have a great week ahead everyone!

The Great Princess and Timothy Couple Meme

As of today, Princess and I have been together for 6 months. In conjunction with our 6 months of being together, Princess suggested that we do the couple meme. I was damn stressed to be honest, having to answer so many questions about her. It was really like having to do a mid-term exam. This is probably the most text-heavy entry I have ever made but here goes.
1) Tell us about the first time you met and your first impression of him/her:
It was on the day of my 24th Birthday. I was supposed to meet Kenny Sia, PinkPau, Ringo and some other friends at Bangsar Village for tea. When we got there we bumped into these 3 girls.
One of them I knew by name… her name was Hui Wen. The other was a pretty but very loud girl that I later got to know as Tze.
Then there was this girl in a yellow dress that was so short she had to wear shorts undernearth to prevent any accidental “Britneys” if you know what I mean. I recognized her as Fourfeetnine, how could I not after Suet had been raving on and on and on about her for the longest time. She dind’t look that small to me though… maybe because we were all sitting down while having tea. After tea though, she stood up to leave and then I went
“Ohhh….”
2)What’s a weird habit or quirk that she has?
Her colleagues at work tell me that she likes to twirl her hair but I don’t really notice that when she’s around me. I don’t particularly notice a particularly weird habit on her.
3) What makes her sad?”
When she disappoints me
4) What makes her angry
When I disappoint her.

5) What excites her?

Shoes shoes and lots of shoes.

6) Tell us something funny about her?

I don’t think it’ll be as funny if I tell it as opposed to actually seeing/hearing it. Sometimes for the fun of it I will fart around her. Her reaction to it is always hilarious!
There’s always an grace period from the moment you fart to the moment everyone around you smells it right? And you know when it’s going to be a smelly fart when it’s a quiet one. (Yes, the smelliest ones are the silent ones).
So during the grace period and before it hits Princess I would just take a look at her and wait for her reaction. Sometimes, she’ll notice me looking at her and she’ll turn around and say
“What?”
Then after a few seconds her nose will pick something up and she’ll have a few short “verifying sniffs”. It’ll take just about 2 seconds for her to verify that there was fart in the air then she would let out a very loud
“TSK”
Then she’ll grab a pillow or anything nearby to cover her nose and scream into it
“FUCK LAR!!!!! AARRRRRGHHHHH!!!”
“FUCKING SMELLY!!! GO SHIT LAR YOU!!!”
And throughout she’ll have this face that looks like when you pull your nose down and have some kind of monkey face with eyes rolled upwards like she was really breathing in some poison gas to her death.
She has that face every time she smells fart. Even if it’s not me. One time we were out in a shopping mall and in the lift. Then somebody farted in the lift and we were all choking on the gas.
Then Princess hit my arm and said out loud to everyone in the lift
“DID YOU FART AGAIN?!?!?”
WHEN IT REALLY WASN’T ME!!!
So I just went
“NO IT WASN’T ME!!! WHY EVERY FART YOU SMELL YOU THINK COMES FROM ME WAN!!!”
The crowded lift was totally silent. The actual culprit in the lift was probably smiling away after having someone else take the fall for his crime. No thanks to Princess.
The only time that Princess smells fart and doesn’t have that face is when she farts herself. One time I was at the computer doing some work then she came over and hugged me from behind. She manja manja with me. Then suddenly I detected the gas that the small girl emitted. I choked and went
“WAHLAU YOU FARTED AR!!!”
And she would just smile and laugh while I scold some more
“WAHLAU!!! FART ALSO ACT SO CASUAL AND TRY TO DISTRACT ME BY SAYANGING ME!!!”
She got me back for that though.
Many months later we were in the car at a traffic light when I farted (this time I really did). Then did her usual face and her usual “FUCK LARRRR!!!!
But this time she wound down the window and used her hands to fan out as much gas as she could. Then she stuck her head out of the car window and looked like she was gasping for air.
She did all this while the people in the car next to us at the traffic light were just looking on at the two of us. It didn’t take a genius to see that the only other person in Princess’ car (ie me) had just released some toxic gas and she was dying from it.
I was embarrassed. So lesson of the day men… don’t embarrass your woman. Don’t even call out her fart! She will get back at you one way or another.
7) What’s she like at home?

You mean how she looks or how she is? Ok I’ll do both.
When she’s at home and especially at the end of the day she will have all her make-up removed. To add to the beauty she has this red secretary-like glasses that I once told her were one of the ugliest pair of glasses I had ever seen in my life. Then she sleeps with curlers, the kind that you only see our grandmothers wear. She then wears nothing but a big t-shirt. Only that the big t-shirt need not be very big, it’s probably just an average sized t-shirt but length wise it’s almost as good as a wedding gown on her.
Her explanation for those ugly red glasses was that she thought nobody was going to see her wearing them at home anyway so she thought she’d try something “different”. I love how she always has some funny reason to everything she does in life.
She dreaded the first night she stayed over at my place. She wasn’t looking forward to having me see her without any make-up and with those glasses and curlers. I looked at her that first night and I thought she never looked more beautiful.
Today I still sleep with her head on my shoulder with one of four curlers pushed against my neck.

8) What’s she like at work/school?

A lot more serious than normal but still occasionally playful. She and her fellow colleague Lee Fen are often the subject of playful making fun of among her colleagues. I hear that in order to send a fax she has to stand on a chair.
The dispatch boy in her office is deeply in love with her… but he’s also married.
9) Describe her room

If only this question was “Describe her room in four words”.
Then my answer would be “A BIG FUCKING MESS“.
When you walk into her room there’s a small study table with shelves on the left. A little further to the left of that she has a single bed against the wall. On the right is a closet for her clothes and in the middle is some space to walk around.
She has what I call a “table-closet-bed”. It’s a really special bed that you won’t even find in Harvey Norman because it’s not just used as a bed but also a table and closet to keep her stuff. The multi-purpose bed is pretty small. When I lie down on it, it more or less fits me just nice. I can’t move around much. But to make matters worse you can never really lie flat on her bed because she has all sorts of clothes stuck under the sheet thrown around her bed.
She even used to have an entire row of stuffed toys lined up against the wall on the bed until I cleared it all out and kept it in her closet for her.

10) What’s her best friend like?

Her best friend is Angela. I’ve never met her before and I only know her from what Princess tells me. I hear Angela is very much like Princess in many ways. The way they think, the sense of humour they share and the things they like though they come from different backgrounds. Angela is rich for example, my poor Princess isn’t.
Princess spent 4 years of college in Mount Holyoke with Angela and were with each other everywhere they went. Mainly because most of the other girls she knew at Mount Holyoke were a little weird but also because they complemented each other so well. For example, when they meet two guys… one of the guys would like Princess and the other would like Angela. Never will they both like the same girl.

11) Do you know who she hates the most?

Princess dislikes a lot of people and a lot of people annoy her but I don’t think she hates anyone. She’s also very forgiving. Piss her off now and dangle a strawberry in front of her 5 minutes later and she’ll totally forget that she was angry at you in the first place. With that kind of attention span, how can she possibly learn to develop hate for anyone?

12) Have you met her exes?

Nope.

13) Do her parents like you?

Now I think they do but not at first. Her parents at first thought that I was some playboy that just wanted to shag her and play her out. But after a while I guess they realized that I truly was crazy about their daughter and I was here to stay.
I have dinner with her parents now 2-3 times a week so I guess we’re quite comfortable.

14) What’s the first thing she would do or say if she fell down and scraped her knee?

“FUCK THIS SHIT!!!”

15) What would she do in an emergency situation with other people involved?

Stand still and wait for someone else to do something.

16) Which shop would she spend most of the time at in a shopping mall?

It really depends on what she needs. If she feels she needs shoes then she’ll go try them out because that’s what she likes the most. But right now after I’ve brought her shoe shopping I think she feels she has enough shoes now.
Now she spends a lot of time in those clothes’ shops in Sungai Wang. Second to that comes Watsons and any cosmetics store. She hates the supermarket. Bringing her grocery shopping would require you to knock her unconscious and drag her by one arm.

17) What would she have for a typical breakfast?

It depends. On weekdays when she has to wake up to go to work, bread and a cup of Milo.
On weekends when she doesn’t have to work, she never wakes up in time for breakfast. She doesn’t even try.
18) Where would she want to go for dinner?

Japanese food. Sushi Zanmai among her favourites.

19) What kind of movie would she choose at the cinema?

She reads a lot so I guess any movie that is made after a book she has read. If not then …. comedies. Not necessarily totally stupid slapstick comedies. I think she appreciates the witty ones more.

20) Describe her taste in music?

She likes Beatles and Abba but she also likes some songs from the 90s. She likes Chinese songs too. The only up to date songs that she really likes are the Japanese ones.

21) If she wasn’t going out with you, who would she be going out with?

Someone who wouldn’t treat her or spoil her as well as I do.

22) What item in her wardrobe would you like to burn?

I was going to say the very low cut black top but I decided I don’t hate it that bad.

23) What is she good at?

She’s good with people so anything that requires a lot of interaction is something she can do well. Books-wise, she’s good in History.

24) What is she totally horrible at?

Any sport or anything outdoor.

25) What’s something about her that is annoying/infuriating?

Maybe I haven’t been with her long enough but nothing much really. Slightly annoying that she’s very forgetful, absent-minded and occasionally can be numb to how something she does might make me feel but it’s something that she has either changed or I’ve gotten used to.

26) What’s something that you two fundamentally disagree on?

So many things. For starters we both constantly debate about who went to a better uni. I’ll say that my university (UCL) is now ranked as one of the Top 10 Universities in the World but she’ll argue that Mount Holyoke (which she went to) is one of the Seven Sisters which is the female college equivalent of the Ivy League.
27) What’s something that you two agree whole-heartedly on?

That we’re the best match for one another and there isn’t anyone better out there.

28) Is she possessive?

Yes… and she’s awfully cute when she is 🙂

29) Why would she succeed in life?

She’s smart and works hard but put that together with her very very like-able personality and I don’t see why she won’t go far in life. She also knows how to differentiate what her heart and what her mind tells her to do in a situation and knows which one to listen to when she needs to.
For example, she was offered two jobs when she first started working. One paid better than the other but she followed her heart and went for the one with the lower pay because she felt that was something she could be good in.
Today she’s loves her job and has never been happier.
I also think that she will be an asset to the lucky man who gets to marry her. That she will be a good companion and she will eventually be the woman behind a very successful man. Whether that man is me or not…. he’ll be so lucky to have her.
30) What is the coolest gift that she has ever given you?

I guess this would be…. her heart.

31) What does she avoid at all costs?

The big burning yellow ball in the sky!

32) What does she spend the most money on?

Right now…. most of it goes to paying off her student loan.

33) Describe her typical Sunday.

It depends on whether she’s staying over at my place or not. If she’s just staying at home with her parents then she’ll stay in bed until close to lunch time. Then wake up for lunch with her grandmother and then afternoon out with her family. Then a simple family dinner and back home where she will spend the rest of the night either watching a movie with her dad or chatting away on MSN while she blogs.
If she’s staying over at my place, she’ll grumble and curse at me for waking her up while the sun is still rising. Then she’ll insist we sleep in until lunch. We’ll go out for lunch somewhere then come back while she watches me play XBOX.
After that we just laze around and talk till dinner which we normally have with her parents. When we’re done with dinner I send her home and she spends the rest of her night blogging or chatting on MSN.
34) Why would she be dangerous?

She is a magnet for accidents. Everything that could possibly goes wrong happens to her. Let me give you an example. When we were in Macau in December, we were walking on the streets when she got her heel stuck in the pavement so she had to stop. That’s fine and all right since heels to get stuck in the gaps of some pavements. The only thing was… she was wearing flats. How it happened… I have no idea.
Since I started being with her I noticed that the number of accidents I run into have increased too. Everything from the smallest thing like spilling a drink on myself to getting myself burned by her curling iron.
35) Tell us about a time she looked absolutely gorgeous

She normally doesn’t get much time to properly dress up, do her hair and make-up these days because she works 5 days a week and she sleeps in so much on weekends she often finds herself late to go somewhere.
Last December when we were in Macau she had all the time in the world to dress up because we were in the hotel room and I was doing some work in the morning before we went out for the day.
So while I was typing away at my computer she was in the bathroom getting all ready. When she came out I stuttered. I couldn’t believe I was going out with this girl.
I didn’t tell her how I felt then because I was just too stunned. But I made it up to her… I tell her every other day how beautiful she is.
This is how she looked on that day.
36) What’s something about her that would surprise all of her friends?

She occasionally has the sleeping posture of a man. Seriously. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning and look at her she’s lying straight on her back but with one leg bent upwards so her knee is in the air. Then she has one arm on her stomach and the other at the back of her head.
Then sometimes I shout
“WAHLAU EH!!! SLEEP LIKE GANGSTER ONLY YOU!!!”
Then she’ll get a shock, wake up all embarrassed then curl up and pretend to sleep in as lady-like a way as possible.

37) What do you love most about her?

I love the quirkiness of her character. How she’s not afraid to do stupid things to make fun of herself just to make herself or anyone else around her laugh.

38) The biggest lesson you have learnt from loving your soulmate.

I fell in love with a girl once many years ago but I got burnt. I dated around after that for 5 years and while I had the best girlfriends a guy could ever ask for, I never really fell in love again.
Then I found Princess and while there are some things that she thinks she isn’t able to match up to some of my exes (she calls one of them “superwoman”), she forgets one very important thing she was able to do. That is…. she taught me how to fall in love again.  She made me realize that sometimes you fall back hard from love and it hurts but the the risk is just worth taking for when you are with someone you love, your life just feels complete.
Princess… makes me feel complete….

Nuffnang Music Bash ’09

Last Saturday we had our Nuffnang Music Bash ’09 at Maison in KL with close to 300 Nuffnang bloggers, many of which who dressed up as celebrities. Take this picture for example.
You have Tey Cindy (2nd from left) who dressed as Britney Spears. Then to her left was Princess who came as music celebrity and popstar Fourfeetnine.
And next to me with the yellow helmet, was Kimcun who came as the YMCA Village People (The rocker next to Kim is Lynn :))!!!
I don’t know if everyone else gets it but if you don’t watch this music video of the song YMCA.

IT’S FUN TO STAY AT THE… Y..M…C….A !!!
It’s basically a video of people in all sorts of uniforms for all sorts of professions. Kim was supposed to be a construction worker. I thought that Kim had the funniest costume of the night! The minute I saw her I laughed.. then she whined to me in frustration
“I’m so glad you get it! A lot of people asked me “Who are you supposed to be? Phua Chu Kang ar?””
The minute I got to the event I was quickly ushered away by Kim and Robb for an interview with a journalist from Sin Chew. It was then that I relived my early Nuffnang days when I had to do a press interview with a journalist from Guang Ming entirely Mandarin.
I struggled to remember my Mandarin but surprisingly managed to pull through okay. After that I was rushed to do a very quick interview in front of the camera by NTV7 to say some words about the event. Then right after that I had to go on stage to give a welcome speech to all the Nuffnangers at the event.
By the time I was done… I was a little tired… and I realized that I had lost something that I had come with: Princess.
I went around looking for her for a full 15 minutes in the crowd only to find her later standing right in front of the stage watching some games they were playing.

I kicked myself in the rear thinking that I should’ve thought that Princess would’ve been right in front of the stage… considering her height and lack of ability to see things from behind a crowd.
We stood at the front for a while and watched Natalie sing on stage. She sang “The Power of Love”, a song that I think is suicide for any girl to want to sing in public. I mean people are just going to compare it with Celine Dion’s version and it’s hard to beat Celine Dion.

I was wrong though. Natalie sang it sooooo well!
The whole crowd was mesmerized and I looked at the person standing next to me only give each other a “WTF” look. What’s this girl doing here? Shouldn’t she be on American Idol or something?
We spent the rest of the night taking pictures with the people there and playing games. Liang as usual was the best emcee I had ever seen and he kept the crowd fired up.

Some other pictures from the night.
A picture of a part of the crowd on one side of the stage.
Princess and some of the Nuffies: Carol, Firdy and Vernice.
Princess and I with some other Nuffnangers.
From left: John and Susan from Maxis Broadband and Mehlin from the agency that made this all happen. And of course Robb and Nicholas.
Princess and I with Vvens.

At the end of the night the music came on and everyone started dancing. I had to leave the club with Desmond. Then on the way out I saw this girl that looked like Vvens dancing like a party animal. I was thinking to myself “Holy shit! Vvens can dance!!! And there I was thinking that she’s this guai guai girl that never goes clubbing”.
Then I stepped out of the club and saw Vvens standing right in front of me. I asked her
“Wait a minute… I thought I saw you dancing in there like a party animal…”
And she said no.
I guess I occasionally have hallucinations of sexy girl dancers.
This is a group picture of some of the Nuffnang team members there that night. Think we’re missing Firdy, Raff and don’t know who else.
This is Raine and Hui Wen in our office after the party.
They looked so tired.
Even Carol looked like she was half-dead with her forced smile.

Then again with the workload Carol has… she always looks half-dead. Seriously Carol. Does Nuffnang overwork you?
I’m going to end this entry with an embarrassing video. Now let me tell you how it all started.
It was a nice casual day at work and everyone in the Nuffnang office was happy and cheerful and all. Then Robb suddenly came over to our side of the office and announced
“OKAY ALL THE NUFFIES ARE PERFORMING!!! YOU’RE ALL SINGING A SONG… YOU INCLUDED TOO TIM!!!”
I said
“WHAT?! But…”
and Robb said
“No buts!!! I’ve already told the client we’re doing it so there’s no turning back now”
Everyone grumbled like a bunch of union workers and the next few weeks we found ourselves practising singing “Let the Music Heal Your Soul”.
We were really really bad. So the night came and when we went up on stage the first thing I said to everyone was
“Guys… all of us at Nuffnang are good at what we do. Our designers are good at design, our programmers are good at programming, our sales people are good at selling blog ads. But we’re all bad at singing so please forgive us”.
We all went up and sang and made a full of ourselves but fortunately after a while everyone started singing along.
In spite of Robb going completely off tune twice! Robb! From now on I am going to call you tone-deaf!
Here’s the video everyone.
