The Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island

I had so much trouble sleeping on Sunday night because of my jetlag. I ended up getting out of bed many many times in the wee hours of  Monday morning to go online and do some work. Xes who was sharing room with me though slept all the way through! After being restless for as long as I can remember, the sun began to come up. It was 6AM. I got Xes.cx out of bed so that we could start early on our sight-seeing.

After a quick breakfast, we decided that we were going to see the Statue of Liberty first… you know… with it being one of the most famous landmarks in New York. So we went over to Battery Park, queued up to buy ticket and were on the first ferry off from Manhattan to Liberty Island. Kiasu huh?

P1030165

Some 10 minutes later or so our ferry reached the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island. Xes.cx and I were very very surprised.

P1030178

I mean … I don’t know if it’s just the both of us but we both expected the Statue Of Liberty to be a lot bigger than it actually is. I don’t know if it’s from us watching it on TV or in movies or what but when we got there Xes was quick to say “Eh… are we at the right Statue of Liberty?  Did we kena con and brought to a fake one?”

Either ways bigger or smaller, it was the real thing and it was still quite something to look at. After so many many years of seeing pictures of it, watching it on TV and so on so forth, it was great.

Here are the very touristy pictures I took with the Statue of Liberty in front…

P1030189

and at its back.
P1030187

Liberty Island also overlooks New York City so the view of the skyline was quite something. My poor camera skills don’t do justice to how nice it really looked. Carol just complained to me a few days ago on why I constantly just use the “intelligent auto” settings of my camera without playing around with its features to take better shots.

P1030184

After Liberty Island we hopped  back on to the ferry to Ellis Island.

If any of you remember, Ellis Island was featured in that Will Smith movie Hitch where he brought his date to find her ancestors that first moved to the USA. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, America had acquired lots of land towards the west (from the middle of the USA all the way to California). So what the government then decided it needed was people and immigration was their solution.

P1030196

They went around trying to get as many people from all over the world to come to the USA to pursue the American Dream and these people passed through Ellis Island which was like an immigration point for them.

Ellis Island had a museum in what used to be the actual administrative building where the immigrants would come and then get their documents approved to see if they were allowed to go into the USA or not.

P1030190

In there they had all the old records of people who came here a hundred years ago. Even down to the shoes the young immigrant children wore when they came. For the more educational part of it, they also had all sorts of stats and figures about immigration in the USA and even all over the world.

There was this chart that showed how people moved around in the past few hundred years and I managed to see this record… of Chinese from China migrating to Malaysia between 1890 -1915. Between that 15 years, over 1/2 a million Chinese from China had moved to Malaysia to do tin mining or whatever… which is where a lot of us Malaysians today come from.

P1030199

I thought I learned quite a lot about immigration in the USA there. There were lots of quotes from leaders of the USA back then, one of them was this.

P1030173

“Everywhere immigrants have enriched and strengthened the fabric of American life” – President John F Kennedy.

Basically there was inherent theme there that American wouldn’t be what it was today if it wasn’t for many of the immigrants who came over 100-200 years ago and made this place their home.

One of my other favourite quotes though was this one by Theodore Roosevelt in 1915.

P1030193

“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism…. A hyphenated American is not an American at all. This is just as true for a man who puts ‘native’ before the hyphen as of the man who puts German or Irish or English or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any other man who holds any other allegiance. But if he is heartily and singly loyal to this Republic, then no matter where he was born, he is just as good as American as anyone else”.

That’s reminds me of what 1 Malaysia is about. From now on, I will no longer refer to myself as a Chinese Malaysian, but a Malaysian.

Times Square!

I arrived in on a Sunday afternoon. I was supposed to meet Xes at my hotel since he was bunking with me for that night. I arrived at the airport only to get a text from him saying that he was waiting for me at the airport so that we could take a cab together to the city.
Well that was fine and all except that…. New York has like.. 3 different airports or so….? And we were both in separate airports… miles away from each other. So when I texted him back to tell him that he said “Ohh no wonder I couldn’t find your flight on the arrival screen!”.

So I got to the hotel soon enough and checked in. The room was okay.

P1030127

I mean it was clean and nice and all but really really small. And if I thought that was small, the toilet was even smaller.

The toilet literally is about the same size as an airplane toilet. This is it… seriously. This and a small shower on the right.

P1030129

You know the toilet is small when you can shit and wash your hands at the same time.

Overall though, the hotel  was okay because it was right in Manhattan. Manhattan is an island in New York that is where most things are. Wall Street is here, Central Park is here, the Empire State Building is here and the of course Times Square.

We decided to take a walk to Times Square after we finally met up at the hotel. We grabbed a hotdog from a hotdog stand for dinner… you know, trying to be all New Yorker and stuff. After some 20 minutes of walking, we arrived!

HELLO TIMES SQUARE!

P1030154

Heck this is one place that I’ve seen so many pictures and TV shows of and finally being here gives you a bit of a surreal feeling. The place is full of life!

Lots of lights and billboards.

P1030143

P1030140

If you’re wondering why in the next picture there’s a billboard that says “ASS” in big capital letters, it’s not what you think it is. It’s actually just the second half of an ad for the movie “KICK ASS” which was a great movie by the way!

P1030134

Of course the reason why all that advertising was there was because there were A LOT of people wandering around!

And to protect all the people there (possibly because of the recent bomb scare in Times Square), there were lots of cops. They also sent this cute little police car to protect us all! VROOM VROOOM!!!

P1030141

NYPD FREEZE!!! OR I’LL….. BUMP YOU WITH MY CAR!

I felt totally safer already. I mean how can you as a terrorist possibly want to do anything to harm this car? It makes you want to go up to it and pinch it in the… err… headlights or something!

Around the watching eyes of the men in blue were also lots people doing all sorts of things like these guys here who were doing the “Free Hug” campaign.

P1030162

They would all just stand with big signs saying “FREE HUGS”… and announce “FREE HUGS HERE!!!”… almost as if they were selling something. I don’t know what inspires people to take time out of their day and do things like that but I find the thought of it refreshing! I mean here are people who are doing things not motivated by money or any other ulterior motive but just… to give someone a hug! That’s just something!

Of course that’s a little different from this other thing I saw there. There was this person in an ugly looking Hello Kitty costume that looked totally imitation standing around there. If you wanted to take a picture you would have to pay her something. That’s fine and all but here’s what’s worse…

I saw this tourist wanting to take a picture with the imitation Hello Kitty. She took the money, then pushed up her Hello Kitty helmet to reveal the face of an old Chinese lady in her 40-50s or so. Then she started counting the dollar bills right in front of that person before she put her helmet back on and posed with the tourist.

Serious, I even took a picture of it.

P1030147

If taking off the helmet while still in character was bad enough, the aunty looked really grumpy too. Imagine if this were to happen in Disneyland. Say some children run to Disneyland to take a picture with Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse then takes off his helmet and… SURPRISE!!!

Oh yeah and speaking of tourists,  that’s the other thing that Times Square has a lot of…. TOURISTS… LIKE ME!

P1030144

HELLO!!!

P1030155

So that everyone.. was my first time at Times Square.

Tomorrow we are going to the Met (The Metropolitan Museum of Art). Now My Hello Kitty calls me a philistine because I don’t care much for museums or even appreciate art much but tomorrow I shall go and truly try to learn to appreciate it!

It’s going to be a looong day tomorrow. Oh oh and we’re watching a musical tomorrow night. Avenue Q. Can’t wait for that!

Okay good night guys!

Two Lurve Stories Around the Blogosphere

There are a couple of videos that have been around the blogosphere lately. The first one is from one of my favourite bloggers of all time… Akiraceo!

Akiraceo is a blogger that doesn’t normally just write… he draws a cat (he calls Miao) and two pet hamsters (he calls Wafu and Pafu). The cat is supposed to represent him and the two pet hamsters are supposed to represent two real pet hamsters he used to have.
Untitled1
*comic strip stolen from Akiraceo with permission
Check out his blog then read back from the earliest archives. You’ll then learn that sometime along the story of his blog, Wafu and Pafu passed away (in real life). He was really sad about it so he created this video in memory of Wafu and Pafu… about his Lurve story with Wafu and Pafu.

Watch it….

All the girl Nuffies in my office were watching it and tearing. Even My Hello Kitty watched it and ended up crying. Then even after she watched it, she thought about it again and she started crying again. Girls just love Miao.

I loved the video… perhaps I appreciate it a lot because I’ve followed Wafu and Pafu for quite a while but even if you don’t know Wafu and Pafu. Check it out.
Now since we’re all in tears and all that let me now talk about something happier.
The other Lurve video that has come to my attention lately is done by Hamlets Hero.

You guys remember Hamlets Hero right?

He is the crazy blogger that took part in the Tiger Stand Out contest last year and won. In order to Stand Out, he and a friend dressed up as Spartans from 300 and walked around 1-Utama taking lots of random pictures.
Untitled2

*pics stolen from Hamlets Hero with permission
Man that was one crazy dude!

He’s done some other silly stuff too.

Last year he joined this Lurve contest and uploaded this video on to YouTube.

I see mixed reactions when people see this video. Some are rendered speechless and some laugh. Not sure which one you would be. Akiraceo’s video was very heartwarming and made my gf cry. HamletsHero one made my very stupid friend who loves all these slapstick humour laugh. If you look a little deeper into HamletsHero’s video though, you’ll see a little bit of a deeper meaning to it. It’s about Love Hate Relationships and how relationships are sometimes about fighting but making up again. Reminds me of all my relationships….

Oh well, I personally am a little bit of a HamletsHero fan after his 300 Saga at 1-Utama. Man you just can’t top that man! I heard the security guards wanted to chase him out of 1-Utama and he just ended up taking a picture with them.
Untitled3

I remember him coming to the Tiger Standout party last year with his fellow Spartans shouting
“THIS IS SPARTA!!!”
Untitled4
Kevin…. This is for you…
“SPARTANS!!!! WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?”

NUUuuuu Yoorrrk!!!

Hey Everyone,

Early tomorrow morning while many of you are still in bed I’m going to be hopping on to a plane to New York. Yes my long awaited trip is finally here. I’m so excited about going to New York that I kept worrying that things would go wrong and I won’t be able to go. Like if I fall sick or my corneal erosion comes back but so far so good. *fingers crossed*. I’m really excited about New York. We watch it all the time in the movies and TV shows, finally I have the chance to go for the first time in my life.

newyork

I’ll be meeting My Hello Kitty there too. That’s right. For the first time in like 1-2 weeks I’ll be seeing My Hello Kitty. This is the longest time in which we’ve ever been apart. To be honest it actually really flew past for me and I’m assuming it felt the same for her too. While she was in San Francisco seeing Angela and all I told her that she doesn’t have to call me every night or anything like that. Just call me whenever she gets the chance… even if it’s just once in a whole week. I know she’s been getting a lot of attention from the guys there but bah I trust her.

Back here in Malaysia though I’ve also kept myself busy. I’ve found what I consider the best XBOX game of all time: Splinter Cell Conviction and I played it non-stop for like a week (minus the time I had to take out to work of course). It is THE best game ever… and for a moment I felt a bit of guilt…. that an XBOX game managed to fill the gap of My Hello Kitty not being around… until I was looking through my laptop and I saw this picture.

IMG_1522

This picture reminded me of how she was (short and cute and always doing stupid things) and made me miss her. It was taken just the night before she left for the USA when a few Nuffnangers went for a meal at Pizza Hut to try out their new Fish King Pizza.
IMG_1490

Meeting us there was one of the big bosses, the General Manager of Pizza Hut Operations: Winston Lee. Winston inspired me that night. He was with us throughout the beginning of the night while we tried the new pizza. Then halfway through the night the restaurant started to get really busy.

Next thing I know he disappeared for a while and the next thing I saw was him going from table to table, waitering. Talk about being hands on!

IMG_1528

Anyway, Kampungboycitygal, KY , PinkStilettos and Huai Bin were among the few of us who were there that night.

IMG_1505

And it was the first time I met Proudduck 🙂

IMG_1532

Yes I had no photographic proof of me being there because I was taking all the pictures. Oh well.

Alright guys, I gotta go finish packing for my trip to New York tomorrow.

Update you guys from there!!!
NUUUUUuuuu Yorrrrrkkk……

Concrete jungle where dreams are maaaadee off….

Sesame Street!

So when we were in the outskirts of Melbourne living the slow weekend life of a nice quiet Australian town, we found something totally random. We were just walking around the streets checking out the stores.

P1030076

Most of the stores on the quiet streets there weren’t the kind of stores you see in KL or any other city to be honest. You don’t see too many chain stores or anything. What you do see are stores that look like they’ve been around forever and passed down from generations to generations.

We went into this toy store where we had some of the oldest toys ever. Like old Pinnochio figurines and all. In the store too, Ming and Pierre managed to find something else that caught their attention.

They found these lads.
P1030082

They brought it quickly to the restaurant where we were having tea and started playing around with them. When the waiter came to take our order, they didn’t order their food. Big Bird, Elmo and Cookie Monster did it for them.

The waitresses all thought that it was soo cute that some of them started crowding around Ming and Pierre and talking to them. Man talk about a way to pick up chicks man. Just bring a Sesame Street hand puppet along.

While I sat there that afternoon sipping my most delicious cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows,

P1030085

Pierre and Ming entertained us with Sesame Street sketches starring Elmo, Cookie Monster and Big Bird.

P1030080

I only wish now I took a video of that 🙂

Bah some of their puppet shows were so inappropriate it probably would’ve been taken off YouTube anyway (or at least flagged).

I can haz new blog template

Yes yes! I know, it’s about friggin time.

I’ve had the previous template for the longest time and it’s broken in more places than one but still I never really had the time to fix it. I always hoped that you guys read my blog to read what I write rather than read my blog for the nice template right? Ming used to scold me all the time. He used to scold me saying that since I represent Nuffnang, I should have a better blog template. Hahaha… plus I’ve had timothytiah.com for some time back already but never really found the time to migrate everything over here.

I have finally done it though. Thanks to some help from Veen Dee. What do you guys think?

VIlla Stay in Mount Martha

So after the wine tour we went for that Saturday, the 9 of us checked into the villa we booked for the weekend. It was on a hill called Mount Martha where they had a lot of really nice houses in this really nice residential area. The houses on the hill overlooked the sea down below. It was really nice… but told.
I didn’t get many shots of it but this is how it looked like from the driveway outside.
P1030052
There were 5 bedrooms in the villa, 3 of them looked really nice with a window overlooking the sea view and all. Ming and I who were the only non-couples there (along with Ming’s sister) decided to give the nice rooms to the 3 couples. We damn nice right?
This is how the nice rooms look like.
P1030048
Nice huh? They look as if they were made just for couples to go in there, light up candles and have a nice romantic night together err… playing… scrabble.
P1030049

And this is the Master bedroom that Grace and David stayed in.
P1030040
The Master bedroom has this really big connecting toilet to it but the toilet just like everything else in the house was done in a very old fashioned kind of style so I found it a little creepy.
Now on to the remaining 2 rooms where the non-couples were staying (me, Ming and Ming’s sister).
This is the room Ming shared with his sister.
P1030039
I know right? It’s not too bad but compared to the previous rooms, it looks like we just went from 5-star to like… 2 and a half star.
My room on the other hand was smaller. I didn’t take a picture of it because everyone said that my room was haunted. When they all walked into my room for a while they said they felt depressed and all and there was like something in there that was scaring them. I didn’t have a choice though so I just… well… bit the bullet and slept in that room.
I didn’t want to take a picture of it though. Didn’t want to catch a picture of something that I shouldn’t be seeing.
This is the living room with a fireplace. There was a real fireplace ok!
P1030042
Then when you walk out the balcony there are some tables and chairs for us to sit on and chill.
P1030047

And the nice dining room with a kitchen at the back for us to prepare our meals.

P1030054

So seeing the kitchen and all we all decided to go grocery shopping right after checking in. We went to the nearest supermarket we could find in the quiet town and shopped away. Our trolley filled up so quickly it was as if we were all hungry refugees seeing a fully stocked supermarket for the first time.
P1030058
The experienced housewife in the group (Grace) was shocked at our shopping habits. Like when Ming brought one huge bag of mushrooms to the trolley she said
“You obviously don’t cook that much.. you don’t need that much mushrooms!!!”
Ming responded
“I do cook a lot… and that’s how I know we need that many mushrooms and more!!!”
The bill in the end came to something like AUD200-300 I think… just enough groceries for the weekend.
P1030060

Grace just sat down and gave us her shocked face.
P1030059
After grocery shopping it was time for us to hunt for dinner. We were going to try this little Chinese restaurant there for some noodles until Ming spotted something else that drew his attention away : Indian food. I cannot begin to tell you how much Ming loves Indian food.
P1030061
We stood outside looking at the menu until this Australian guy came out of the restaurant with a lot of take-away. He was heading towards his new car (some new Merc jeep) and Ming just openly said
“Nice car Sir, you look like a man with great taste! Tell me is the food good?”
Now if I were the Aussie I would’ve been a little puzzled at first but the friendly guy just replied
Yes!”, then got into his car.
P1030062
That was enough for Ming to go for it so we all had Indian food that night and it was great.

On the way out of the restaurant later that night we passed by this other restaurant that had something really cool. Check out this restaurant and tell me if you spot anything.

P1030063

Notice how there’s an arcade game machine in the picture? They use that game machine as a restaurant table!
What a cool idea.
We all went back that night and played some games. Taboo was one of them. We played Guys vs Girls in taboo and the girls won (but we played again the next day and the guys won back our pride… maybe the girls let us win but no matter we won anyway!!)
The next morning when I woke up though, the food we bought from the supermarket was all cooked and ready for breakfast.

P1030066

We had a great breakfast that morning!
P1030065
I really enjoyed the weekend stay at the villa. It’s the first time I’ve done something like that. I mean it’s a bit old and creepy at night but overall with the right company, it was a great place to stay.
We did almost nothing but just relax and play board games all weekend and it felt really nice.
P1030067

I would do it again some time. Not too often but some time again 🙂

Recurrent Corneal Erosion again….

If you’ve been following my blog since 2 years ago you’d know that I once had a recurrent corneal erosion. If you want to know a bit more about what it is and how I got it, check out my previous blog entries here, here and here.

In a nutshell though I got it more than two years ago when I happened to injure by cornea by scratching my eyes hard one morning. Scratching your cornea I guess is something that happens to a number of people but if you’re unlucky your cornea doesn’t heal well enough on its own.
Then whenever you sleep at night and your eyes are dry, your corneal sticks to your eyelids or something. So when you wake up in the morning and open your eyelids, it pulls out a piece of cornea with it and you experience really bad pain. To make matters worse, sometimes if the area of cornea pulled out is big enough, it will hurt so bad you won’t be able to open both your eyes for a few days until your cornea heals back again.

Fortunately, the cornea is a part of your body that heals really quickly on its own. There are many ways to treat it so I went for laser surgery two years ago and since then it’s healed. Had no problems with it at all until last night when I woke up experiencing the pain in my eye that I know so well. Surprisingly since I wrote about recurrent corneal erosion I’ve had quite a number of readers who e-mailed me sharing their experiences as well. I guess it helps to know that some others go through this with you.

I’m going to see a doctor on Monday but now I’m worried. I’m worried that it might be bad enough that I won’t be able to go to New York and meet My Hello Kitty there for this trip I’ve been looking forward to for a very long time. I used to feel really sad when I had this problem. But I’ve learned to look at it more positively. While this is a big inconvenience for me, I’m glad that it’s nothing permanent and something that can be solved. It’s nothing that would affect my living a normal life. So well… that’s it. I’m just a little worried about having to miss my New York trip. Everything’s already been booked and paid for. I hope I’ll still be able to go and have fun.
Anyway on the happier things, catching up with some Project Alpha episodes.
Here’s episode 15 of Niki Cheong’s interview with Xiaxue
If you haven’t seen London.. check out this episode where Niki and Xiaxue go sight-seeing around London with Ming as a tour guide.

Makes me really miss London myself. I wanna go back!

Told My Hello Kitty that I’ll take her back next year if I have the money to. You also get to see Boss Ming featured in there !!! We were in London for the shoot. Well I was behind the scenes but Ming was the guide since he’s been in London for years and still finds a way to go back there a few times a year. See the camera he was holding though, that’s the infamous “Beast”.
It also features Borough Market. I blogged about it some time back. Remember?

This episode is of Jojo, Niki and Xiaxue right outside the stadium of the big Chelsea Vs Arsenal game there. Love the spirit the English have for their football.

And here’s the least episode with Niki and Xiaxue where Xiaxue talks a bit more about her husband Mike.

I love how in this episode Xiaxue talked about Mike being untidy and Mike defended himself saying “You have understand… she has OCD”. HAHA! I have OCD too 🙁

Ah love catching up on Project Alpha on the weekends.
Have a great weekend everyone. It’ll pass much quicker than you think 🙂

Wine Country!

Last weekend in Melbourne we decided to get out of the city for a couple days just to see the countryside a little. I had no idea what the others had planned. All I knew was I was to be up early Saturday morning and be in the car. That’s it! … oh and there was something about us renting a Spanish Villa for the weekend.
So after like an hour and a half drive we ended up in this place called Port Sea.

P1020988

It’s like this really really nice and quiet peaceful town. The whole town has just one main shopping street and on a Saturday afternoon you can see people walking their dogs in their tracksuits. You almost want to think that everyone there lives a very long stressless relaxing life.

We had lunch near the sea where a lot of people seemed to be going for some fishing. So since we were at a coastal town, we did the most cliche thing we could think of: We had Fish & Chips at this place called The Rocks.

P1020990

Everyone was being totally tourist about it. It wasn’t just Ming with his big camera that he calls “The Beast”.
P1020998

It’s everyone else too.

See I took this picture of the other side of the table and everyone was being anti-social looking at their cameras.

P1020995

The food was just okay if you ask me. Just didn’t think the fish & chips were anywhere close to the one I used to like a lot in London. The view though was great.

Imagine sitting with 8-9 friends having lunch and overlooking the sea.
P1020989

After lunch we spent the afternoon doing something so many people have told me about… touring the wineries where all that Australian wine is made.

You basically go see huge beautiful wineries like this with all the plants that churn out the grapes they use to make wine.
P1030020
P1030006
If you’re lucky you also get to see a little bit of the backroom operations.
This is where wine is made.
P1030024
See that huge metal pot of grapes inside? They probably use machines to squeeze them all up but can you imagine those days where you would have to take off your shoes and step on them all? A lot of work, though it would be made easier if I had a pair of BIG CAT boots.
After you’re done seeing how the wine is being made, you get to try out the wine at the bars there. Plus if you find something you like, you buy a bottle.
P1030016
One of the wineries we stopped at was this one called Port Phillip, a very modern looking one that apparently cost like AUD 15,000,000 to build.
Now I’m no expert in wine. I like wine but I can’t have a glass and roll it around and comment about its bouquet or body or… well whatever. I just know I like it and I like it. In my limited knowledge about wine though, I also know that when you go wine tasting you’re not supposed to actually drink the wine they give you to sample (ironically I learned that from watching Family Guy because Peter got drunk at a wine tasting in one episode).
P1030035
They have these buckets on the side where you’re supposed to spit it out. Being the Asians we were though, we never let booze go to waste. So by the time I was done with our 3rd winery I was already feeling very… “happy”.

P1030013

At one winery we decided to sit outside in the cold to have some wine (when every other sane local there was seated inside). You know… we thought since we don’t get cold weather in Malaysia much might as well savor the moment right?

P1030037

Well that was right for us.. until about 5 minutes later when we realized our balls were freezing off. So we ran off before we had the chance to order.
My Dad loves wine so I bought him a couple of bottles. They were really cheap though. At least compared to the wine we get back here.
P1030019

Such a fun experience… you know getting high and all indulging ourself in wine culture.

P1030025

I would do it again.

In the next entries, I will blog about the Spanish Villa we stayed in 🙂

Hello Yoda!

Last Friday we were all walking around Chadstone Mall. Not sure why we ended up there because I kinda prefer walking around the high streets in Melbourne Central rather than at a mall. We already have plenty of malls in Malaysia to walk around in.
The guys and the girls split. The girls decided to go and do their own shopping and the guys (ie Ming, Pierre, Vuitton and me) just decided to go do our own thing. Met up with Jia Jer and his younger sister and this really nice girl named Joey. Took a picture with them but it turned out to be a really blur one so I’m not going to post that up.
Anyway, we were walking around until we spotted “Build-A-Bear”, a shop that allows you to create your own teddy bear.
We all made a bet that if one of us was going to make a bear, all of us would so Ming was the first to start.

I then followed suit whereas Pierre and Vuitton backed out *ahem*.
If I know My Hello Kitty well enough, she doesn’t really like typical teddy bears (except for Lolo). So the most straight forward choice for me was to go for a Hello Kitty one.
This is how the Hello Kitty looked when I first picked the skin.
Next you were supposed to put in this little heart that I was holding (to give it a heart), and then step on this pedal that would blow up filling into the Hello Kitty.
By the time that was done, this was how the Hello Kitty looked like. Hello Kitty Bogel!

Now I didn’t want it to be a typical Hello Kitty. If I understand my girlfriend right, she likes quirky and silly things. So I decided to do something that the sales girl said had never been done before.
I decided to dress the Hello Kitty up in a Yoda costume. I thought this stuffed toy would really represent elements of both me and her in one. I mean she, being the Hello Kitty and me… being a Star Wars fan!
I bought the costume and started working on it.
Man wearing tiny clothes and tiny Yoda pants for a Hello Kitty ain’t an easy thing to do.
It’s quite cute though, has a little gap in the back for its tail.
I struggled with it for a while but eventually managed to pull through.
Then I made a custom-made birth certificate for it and gave it a name.

At the end of the process, here’s what I ended up with.
Everyone… meet…. HELLO YODA!

(Notice how Hello Yoda too has a light saber. Don’t fuk with Hello Yoda)
The girlfriend is going to hate it isn’t she?
Shit … I knew I should’ve gone for Hello Vader instead!
