Takers

Last night I went for the Nuffnang Screening of a movie called Takers, compliments of Sony Pictures. I actually had some high expectations for the movie because the trailer looked great and it had Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen, Matt Dillon and Michael Ealy in it. I was right. It was great.

It’s a bit different from the usual cop chase bad guy kind of movie because in this movie, it gives you the perspectives of the bad guys and you find yourself rooting for them somehow. Catch it this weekend if you have the chance.

Mall of Memories

I was inspired to write the following entry after recently visiting a mall in Penang where I used to hang out a lot at while I was young. It’s actually a lot of scattered memories that I have of the place and maybe it’s not the typical kind of thing people blog about but I just want to be able to document these memories I have somewhere… and maybe share them with you guys.

—————————-

“Do you know that there is going to be a big shopping mall here with everything in one. Hotel, offices, a bowling alley and shops?”, my dad told my mum as we were in the car passing this big open fenced up piece of land being prepared for construction.

I couldn’t remember the year, but I remember I was still really young and in school. It blew my imagination. One big center with a hotel, offices, a bowling alley and shops? That was almost unheard of in Penang back then, apart from Komtar. I lingered in my young imagination when I heard my dad going on to say

“It’s going to be called 1-Stop”.

P1050073

Years later, a huge building was erected where that empty piece of land once stood and the whole structure came to life. Shops moved in, Berjaya Hotel opened up there and the whole shopping center came to life. There were two big blocks that were connected by bridges and a big foyer area in the center.

P1050036

It became the ULTIMATE place for teenagers to hang out. They had everything there. When we were going out with girls from another school, we would go walk around 1-Stop in typical teenager fashion. The girls will walk in front looking pretty and cute. The guys would follow behind in a cluster talking about football and acting cool. When we wanted to take it up a notch, we would go bowling on the 7th floor.

Then when time for lunch came, we would eat at, KFC, McDs or the food court on the top floor.

McDs that was so often frequented by us is no longer where it used to be.

P1050064

In its place is closed shutters with a notice about its closure.

P1050063

KFC though is still there.

P1050068

Sometimes when pocket money permitted, we would go have a nice lunch at Dave’s Deli. A small franchise in Penang that was known for his chicken served ala Kenny Roger’s style. Today, all that remains of where Dave’s Deli used to be is the remains of “Rose Garden”, a shop that took over Dave’s Deli after my time.

P1050039

And if we felt rich with pocket money, we would give in to the smells of the Famous Amos cookies at the back entrance of 1-Stop. Today Famous Amos is no longer there and in its place, a Cupcake cafe.

P1050065

The fun in 1-Stop though was in the other kind of activities a young boy loved. When I was between ages 11-13, I used to play a card game called Magic The Gathering a lot. “Play”, was an understatement. I was addicted to it and it was an expensive hobby especially for a young teenager. I spent most of whatever Ang Pow money I had back then buying these cards. The place to buy them was a shop called Novel Hut in 1-Stop run by a guy named Marcus.

I used to think that he was the coolest guy ever with the best job. All he had to do was go open shop there every day and he passes his time playing Magic with everyone else. Not to mention he seemed to have the best cards ever. After I had stopped playing Magic The Gathering, he renamed his shop to Twenty Twenty and eventhough it was in no way as packed and bustling as before. It remained there till today.

P1050055

Amidst all the other closed shops around it. I never went back to say Hi to Marcus because the last time I did many years ago, he didn’t seem to remember me anymore and some awkward silence passed between us. Funny enough the last game of Magic The Gathering I ever played was in 1-Stop itself for the Malaysian Open tournament. I promised myself to stop the addiction since it was leading to a lot of bad habits on my part so I promised myself that if I played in the tournament and got to the final 16, I would quit. I actually just got to number 16. So I quit anyway.

So that part of 1-Stop ended for me only to be quickly replaced by another: CYBERCAFES.

1-Stop from 1998 onwards became like THE place for cybercafes. One of the first cybercafes there that started was called Virus and it had this system where you had to buy a prepaid card of time that you get to play on and plug it into a card slot at the computer. Once your time was up, it would just turn off the monitor. I used to hang out there a lot with my friends and we remember the owner being this hot mid-30s woman who always dressed with a short skirt.

Right after Virus, other cybercafes sprouted out all over 1-Stop and they got bigger and bigger.

P1050035

From just having 20 computers to ones that have like 100 or so of them. It got so big that some of them started linking up with each other so people could play games together.  In 1998 we played a lot of Half-Life and Command & Conquer Red Alert. Then Starcraft came in and eventually we discovered Counter-Strike which took up the rest of the years. I still remember all the cybercafes I used to play in. Hyperweb (which if I remember correctly was the first), Cyberweb, Cyberjacks, Swat Zone, Pyramid… they had that many and it was thriving with teenagers like me spending hours and hours playing. During the school holidays I would go to 1-Stop at 11.30AM, have an early lunch with friends and start playing at the Cybercafes from 12PM all the way to 6PM or 7PM. Looking back I do sometimes think that if I had spent all those hours on something more productive, I might have turned out a bit differently but well… it was just fun.

When I wasn’t playing computer games at cybercafe, I spent some time at the arcade playing Daytona or Time Crisis. They arcade used to be at the 7th floor but now that area is all closed.

P1050046

They moved it downstairs now.

P1050051

Daytona is this old car racing game that I used to love playing because it’s just simple and fun. Along with Time Crisis they were the most popular games there at 1-Stop.

1-Stop isn’t all about games and all for teenagers though. There are some practical parts to it. On one side of the complex is all the cybercafes and shop lots but on the other side is some proper shopping.

P1050040

There were all sorts of stuff there though. A supermarket there called Tops, a Garfield specialty store called “Huggable Cat” and lots of clothes shop. Today most of the shops that used to populate the mall have closed and you see shutters there that hasn’t looked like it has been opened in a long time.

P1050043

The bubble lifts were still running as usual though. I used to remember how they took so long to get from one floor to another floor because there were so many people in it and everyone was stopping at every floor.

P1050050

Today the lifts are often empty and takes you to the top floor with hardly any stops.

P1050042

The bubble lifts were what we used to take us to the top floor of the mall where they had lots of computer shops and shops that sold PC games. Today all that are left of those shops are a handful of them and the rest of the floor is empty.

P1050047

Some shops survived till today though. There is the perfume shop that one of my high school girlfriends brought me there to hint that I buy it for her.

P1050041

I still remember how strong the hint was. We were walking around there and she asked to take a look at this particular perfume called “Sunflower” or something that her friends were telling her about. She just admired it then we left the shop. When her birthday came I knew exactly what to buy her so I went to that same perfume shop and bought that “Sunflower” perfume. When she unwrapped the present she looked surprise, though I know deep inside she knew. How predictable and unromantic I was.

Also there are these two Christian book stores that have survived for a long time.

P1050058

P1050056

The Watsons.

P1050061

The Artist Gallery that is really like a a Speedy Video and sold CDs, DVDs and the likes.

P1050060

Another music store that was really popular back then in 1-Stop was Music Valley. It used to be packed with people all the time and it’s where you would go to listen to all the latest music. In those days, shops all over 1-Stop will play music that was popular at the time like Michael Learns to Rock: Paint My Love or even Lemon Tree by Fools Garden. Those were sooo popular back then.

Funny enough when I visited 1-Stop recently some of the shops were playing these exact same songs which really helped me imagine a walk down memory lane. Music Valley is still there today though but it’s no longer the bright beacon of music it was back in the day. It shrunk from having two lots to just one.

P1050037

You could see how business really went bad for them when Napster and mp3 downloading came into fashion. They’re still around though. Maybe more and more people are buying original CDs now. I know I am.

This England Optical which was the place where my mum brought me to get my first pair of glasses done when I was in Form 3 back in 1999.

P1050066

I never used to have to wear glasses but after 2 years of intense computer games… I guess it was time it happened to me. After taking a good walk around 1-Stop that afternoon in present times, it was time for me to leave. I left by the front entrance, by the stairs where many times before I used to sit while waiting for my Mum and Dad to pick me up after I had a fun day out with my friends.

Those stairs used to be crowded with people coming and going from the mall. Today they are empty.

P1050070

I don’t know what really happened to 1-Stop. Maybe they didn’t seek to further improve it or maybe they just decided that it was not worth reinvesting in. The teenagers of today no longer go to 1-Stop in their free time. They flock to the new places now. The Gurneys, the Queensbays and perhaps these malls will give them a different kind of childhood experience than the one me and my friends had.

P1050033

1-Stop gave me mine… many different memories from my teenage years.

Temptations

Sponsored Post

Those of you who have been reading my blog a bit in the past would know that I have a weakness for ice-cream. It’s true… and it used to be a chronic problem too. Remember the many many instances in the past where I had went to buy a whole bucket of ice-cream just to eat.

1

Especially when I’m stressed.

2

Many times I’ve tried to figure out my lack of resistance to the temptation of ice-cream. So I did some research and it’s true. There is actual scientific proof that ice-cream makes you happy. Apparently each spoon of that triggers the same pleasure center in your brain as winning money or listening to your favourite music does.

I have a theory that it probably hits the same pleasure center that is triggered by sex too. I tried Googling for evidence of this but I couldn’ find anything to prove that. What I did manage to find though is this Cosmo article saying that apparently there actually is ice-cream that makes you horny.

Nothing like what I’ve had but ice-cream at its current state is already enough to make me hold back on it now, considering how I’m trying to watch my weight lately. If you’re laughing at me for that, I shall only say this: “Wait till your metabolism rate slows down too!”.

Sometimes though I feel that while we restrain ourselves on many things, life is only worth living if we can sometimes indulge ourselves.
Which brings to the point of this whole entry. This 27th of October from 9PM onwards at 7atenine in KL there’s going to be Temptations, an event under the Horeca School of Excellence.

3
It’s one of those parties where there’ll be ice-cream and lots of booze for a good time! I’ve been for a lot of events with booze.. but how many events have both booze AND ice-cream!!

There are also going to be 4 Encore signature cocktails and you get to be taught by a Horeca School of Excellence Mixologist on how to make your own cocktail. That means the shake, muddle, mix and pour. All this of course along with some live acts to keep us entertained.
Kitteh and I are both going and we also managed to get our hands on some drink vouchers to give out to any of you guys who want to come: 10 pairs of them. So if you’d like to come with a pair of drink vouchers leave a comment here with your e-mail and I’ll e-mail you as soon as we reach the first 10.

If you don’t make it for the first 10 to comment but would like to go for the event anyway, check out Encore’s Facebook page here. Like it and rsvp there ☺

It’s a Wednesday night… great mid-week party. I’m going to ask some of the Nuffies to go too!

See you guys there!

The Most Expensive Home, Proton Inspira and ToyWatch

Here are a few things that have caught my attention lately.

1) The World’s Most Expensive Home

It was in the news lately that Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in India and the 5th Richest Man in the world has just built the World’s Most Expensive Home. Let me show you how it looks.

mukes_ambani_tower_house_home_altamount_road

This is it. When I showed Kitteh this picture she kept looking for a house but found nothing. It’s that tall building that looks like it’s still under construction. That’s right.

Let me explain his home in numbers.

ambani1

27 floors

6 floors of car park and another floor just for his very own car service center to service his own cars

600 staff to be hired to run this household

6 members of his family that are going to be living here

$1,800,000,000 is what it cost to build and is now worth.

Can someone say… WOAH!!!!

That’s crazy. The man is owner of Reliance Industries, the largest private corporation in India and he is worth an estimated USD28,000,000,000. So I guess when you have that much money… what’s a $1,800,000,000 for a house. Only 6.5% of his networth. He is forecasted by Forbes magazine to be the richest man in the world by 2014.

You can watch this news report on his house for a better look.

2) Now Everyone Can Evo

Proton not long ago announced their replacement for the Proton Waja. It looks like this.

proton-waja-lancer

I thought it looked really nice actually though I thought it looked a bit familiar. After doing some research online did I only find out why it was so familiar. It’s actually a Mitsubishi Lancer with some slight modifications and a Proton badge. Man… Evo owners who spent some RM300K on their Evos were really pissed off and venting their frustration on all the sites I went to. Everything from blogs, forums, Twitter and even YouTube.

I mean I guess I can see why. I can remember how when I was in college, the trend were all these Japanese rally cars ( you know the Rx-7s, the Skylines etc etc) and the Mitsubishi Evo was one of the coolest. If you drove one to college, you were cool and you would catch a lot of attention just like a few of my lucky friends did.Girls back then totally digged guys who drove those cars too. I wonder if it’s still the same in colleges today.

mitsubishi-lancer-sportback-ralliart1

Anyway, now that the new Proton looks just like the Mitsubishi Lancer (Evo), everyone can have an Evo now! In fact Ican imagine a lot of people buying Proton Inspiras and changing the Proton logo to a Mitsubishi one. Still I think it’s a nice car though and if I were to buy a Proton today, I would buy the Proton Inspira. Proton was getting quite a bit of flak online too for not coming up with a new design of its own but hey, the Myvi’s a great popular car and that’s from a Japanese car too.

That being said, I thought the Gen 2 was a really nice design. That’s Proton’s work right?

Whatever it is, with the new Proton Inspirasi… Now everyone can Evo!

3) My ToyWatch Broke

That’s right… just after a few months the wrist snapped and something inside broke too. The W for the word “Watch” on the face came out. I don’t know what happened. Didn’t drop it or anything. I just jerked my arm a little once trying to pull back my sleeve and it came out.

P1050029

So I’m not sure if a ToyWatch is a good investment now if you’re looking for something that lasts.

P1050028

So that’s all folks. Till the next entry 🙂

Kite Flying with Churp Churp

Last Saturday my colleagues at Churp Churp decided to organize a “kite-flying” session at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus.

P1050025

Growing up I have read so much about kites, seen so many pictures and even a couple of movies that involved kite flying but I’ve never ever flown a kite before. After 26 years of life, I finally decided that it was time for me to learn to fly a kite. Kites after all are one of the oldest inventions around with its origin dating approximately 2,800 years ago in China. Since then kites have been used for all sorts of different things even for military applications, according to: Wikipedia

In 637, Kim Yu-sin, a Korean general of Silla rallied his troops to defeat rebels by lofting a kite with a straw man which looked like a burning ball flying to the sky.

Russian chronicles mention prince Oleg of Novgorod use kites during the siege of Constantinople in 906 A.D.: “and he crafted horses and men of paper, armed and gilded, and lifted them into the air over the city; the Greeks saw them and feared”.

Lets not forget that Benjamin Franklin in 1750 used a kite to prove that lightning is electricity too. Back at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus though, by the time I got there there were already Churpers there trying to fly their kites.

P1040963

I had no idea what I was doing so I had to ask a fellow Churper to teach me..

P1040972

I didn’t manage to get the kite up though and we blamed it on the kite… (when it was actually because of our lack of talent). Some of the other Churpers managed to fly theirs really high after all.

P1040968

Then Vivian here came to save the day.

P1050024

She told me to use her kite and she helped me hold it to throw it in the air.

P1040983

I struggled at first. It still didn’t manage to get far at all, it always ended up on the ground like this.

P1040990

I even tried running as fast as I could pulling the kite behind me but that didn’t help as much. Then I began to learn some things like how to watch the wind direction and how I have to constantly pull and release the string so that the kite can continue to build momentum. And in no time… voila! I got my kite in the air. I wish I had a picture of that but Nicholas who was holding my camera was nowhere to be found during my moment of glory. I do however have a picture of me flying Simon’s kite later on.

Simon had this big bird kind of kite he bought from a shop in Desa Parkcity.

P1050022

And this is me flying it.

P1050011

I don’t know how to describe it but having the kite fly in the air is a lot of fun. It’s like you feel this real sense of satisfaction once it gets in the air and it’s a constant struggle having to keep it up. You have to keep releasing the string at times and pulling it back at other times for it to keep it’s momentum. This repetitive action gets really tiring on the arms after a while but couple it with the running you have to do and you’ve got great exercise going there.

P1050006

That’s unlike of course some of the lazy Nuffies who just wanted to sit by the side under the shade and watch. Booo!! Haha

P1050023

P1040981

Here’s Vivian and Michelle sitting down. Vivian towards the end was really tired too so she was just sitting down.

P1040988

Here’s a picture of her earlier in the day getting her kite up in the air.

P1040979

And some pictures of the kites of the other Churpers there.

P1040996

Flying kites was a lot of fun and I’m actually quite excited to do it again some time. It’s funny how we’ve all forgotten this age old recreational game and not turned to digital games to keep us entertained. Going back to these traditional games though was quite a change for me and I really had a lot of fun. Possibly even more fun than playing Starcraft 2 *gasp* (did I just say that).

Anyway if Churpers wanna do it again, we’ll probably organize another kite outing. Thanks Taylor’s University for letting us kite on their beautiful campus.

P1050005

Where would you cover?

Someone e-mailed me this joke the other day and I found it really funny. So much that I actually asked some people what they would do if they were in that situation and listened to their answers. Well here it goes:

—————————
An American, Japanese and a Chinese went for a hike one day.

It was very hot. They were sweating and exhausted. When they came upon a small lake, they took off all their clothes and jumped into the water, since it was fairly secluded. Feeling refreshed, the trio decided to pick a few berries while enjoying their “freedom.”

As they were crossing an open area, suddenly a group of ladies from town appeared.

—————-

Tim: Now this is when I asked a number of people this question. Say you were running away to your clothes, which part of your body would you cover with your hand? Think about it first before you move on from here.

Got it? Ok here’s the continuation of it.

—————–

Unable to get to their clothes in time, the American and the Japanese quickly used their hands to cover their privates. But the Chinese covered his face and the trio ran for cover.

After the ladies had left and the men got their clothes back on, the American and the Japanese asked the Chinese why he covered his face rather than his private part.

The Chinese replied, “I don’t know about you……. but in my country, it’s the face that people recognize.”

—————————

I thought this was soo funny because it’s so true. I mean it would really be in your instinct to cover your privates and run when the right thing to do really is to cover your face. Haha I will remember that… if I were to ever get caught in that situation.

International Suit-Up Day

Wednesday was apparently “International Suit-Up Day”, something some of the Nuffies decided to celebrate so I said okay. In the morning I was going for a photoshoot for Prestige Magazine’s 20 Under 40 and had to wear a suit there anyway so I thought why not. When I got to the office I couldn’t recognize the place.

33582_10150290136725187_756180186_15327749_526735_n

Instead of jeans and t-shirt everyone was all suited up. It didn’t look like Nuffnang, ChurpChurp or Nom Nom Media at all. In fact it looked like I was in a law firm. The Nuffies called the office “Tim, Ming & Co” for the day.

We finally looked like a “grown-up” office. I remember I was in the elevator going down one day and this lady on our floor asked me “What is there where you came from ar? Is it a college library?”.

When I told her it was an actual office for an internet company she said “Ohh because I see everyone there so young so I thought it was a library”.
Wednesday though, we looked like a proper traditional office.

Even at lunch we were looking all grown up.

33698_10150290137220187_756180186_15327761_6120086_n

Here’s a group picture of all of us that suited up that day. Some of us didn’t, so they were the ones helping us take the pictures instead.

71774_10150290138305187_756180186_15327789_3345762_n
Looking all serious and all.

And here’s a picture of us doing the Nuffnang stickman pose.

Happy International Suit-Up Day everyone!

Oktoberfest!

Last Friday was a great ending to my work week. After work I went with Kitteh and some Nuffnangers to the Curve for an event GAB was holding for Oktoberfest. For those who may not know GAB is Guinness Anchor Berhad: the company responsible for bringing us booze like Heineken, Tiger and Guinness. So it was only appropriate that they celebrated Oktoberfest right? 🙂

P1040918

They extended Laundry to reach all over the front of Cineleisure and set up lots of tables there for people to sit and drink. Then they had a stage and lots of people dressed in Oktoberfest theme with Oktoberfest music in the background. I really loved the setup. It really gave a whole festival kind of feel.

There were performances, dancing and all that and there were also games. Like this one where you’re supposed to throw a pretzel around any bottle of beer. This is Kitteh throwing hers.

P1040911

When it came to my turn I missed all 3 throws. Totally useless  I was. I think the people there took pity on me an gave me a consolation pin badge.

P1040913

Kitteh was there hoarding as many friends as she could and sitting at the end of the table so much that she looked like the excited birthday girl at a birthday party.

P1040886

Some other Nuffnangers were there too. Here’s Kitteh and me with Tzia, Adele and Shin Yee.

P1040901

Me with Chukei.

P1040907

Kitteh with Kelly

P1040892

Some of the Nuffies

P1040896

Check out the huge mugs of beer they were serving. Each for something less than RM40 and you get to bring home the huge mug as a souvenir.

P1040908

And here is a very drunk me with Sixthseal after some many many drinks.

P1040921

I have a disclaimer. I don’t normally drink myself silly but that night everyone decided to play drinking games. Kitteh was appointed the designated driver so I had no reason not to drink. We played this game where everybody put out either a zero or a five. The game sounded fun and Kitteh wanted to play so she made a deal with me that she would play representing me. If she lost I would have to drink.

P1040916

Me being the brave white night decided to protect my girlfriend from all the booze and agreed to it. BIG… BIG MISTAKE. Kitteh is hopeless in most games and in almost all drinking games. So she lost many many many times to the joy of everyone else. After a while though everyone was so high that we couldn’t keep track who was winning or losing and just had everyone drink up.

P1040915

I had so much l I felt sooo bloated that if someone had jumped on my stomach there would be beer on the ceiling. Was a really happy night though, a wonderful end to the weekdays of the week. All of us just drinking, talking, singing along to the songs that they were playing over the loud speakers. One of the songs they played was this song I remember from Oliver.

Oom pa pa…. listen to the lyrics and you’ll learn it’s actually a drinking song.

Here’s a last picture of some of us. Half of the people on this table were a little tipsy by the end of the night… but we had fun.

P1040897

Would definitely do it again next year 🙂

2 Years!

Today, Kitteh and me have been together for officially 2 years. It’s an important yardstick for me because Kitteh and I talk about this “2 year mark” I have where none of my relationships in the past ever seen to last much longer than 2 years. I know I’m useless.

Anyway to celebrate our 2nd anniversary I toyed around with the idea of going somewhere nearby for a short trip but I’ve been traveling so much in the past few weeks for work that I just want to stay put. So tonight we’re going to have dinner. Japanese food because that’s Kitteh’s favourite.

As far as presents are concerned here’s what I gave her.

P1040925

I decided to get something one of a kind made for her. So for that I went to my fellow Nuffie Firdauz whom I know happens to be a clay artist. I got him to help me make a clay figure of us both. So just yesterday I gave it to her.

P1040924

So does it look like us?

Follows how I always wear jeans… and of Kitteh wearing one of her maxi-dresses.

P1040923

So that’s it everyone.

P1040899

Another year with Kitteh.

Celebration of Amazing Skin by Vaseline

Last weekend I was at the Vaseline Celebration of Amazing Skin at Luna Bar: Another Nuffnang Community event with some 150 bloggers or so there. Unlike our usual blogger gathering though, this one was a bit more formal and classy.

P1040732

I arrived there early to hang out with the Nuffies who were there getting everything ready. I still find it amazing that so many of the Nuffies come and spend a whole day to help out whenever we have a Community Event, a tradition that we’ve always had since we started that is still ongoing today. During the workdays they’re Designers, Software Engineers, Ad Ops, Media Sales and all but during events they do everything from carry boxes of Vaseline up or help decorate the place before the Nuffnangers arrive.

P1040733

I didn’t manage to take a lot of pictures with all the Nuffies because they were all busy helping around but here are the few I managed to take. Here’s Rina and Pinky. Rina’s my PA during the day and Pinky is from JPB. Here’s them holding some Vaseline products. The one on the right is my favourite.

P1040746

In the past I’ve actually been using some other moisturizer. Then one day I decided to try the yellow Vaseline one and I have since pledged my loyalty to that moisturizer. It’s smooth and not sticky and it smells really nice. And yes I use moisturizers for my hands before I sleep every night because I get dry hands.

Moving on here’s Linda and Sara from Media Sales and Ad Ops.

P1040741

After we got everything ready the Nuffnangers started arriving and took their own places.

P1040808

It started getting dark too and Lunar Bar is beautiful at night. It’s a rooftop bar with a swimming pool in the middle and all around it: a beautiful view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. I tried taking a picture and it ended up a bit blurry but from the picture you kinda get an idea of how the lighting was that night.

P1040804

Jojo Struys was the host for the night but she was soo busy I didn’t even manage to take a picture with her. I did however manage to take pictures with a lot of other Nuffnangers.

Here’s me with JunJun Riko and her friend.

P1040820

The guys!!!

P1040822

Me with Shahroll, one of the coolest Nuffnangers around!

I also met this cute married couple. It was their first Nuffnang event.

And here’s me with Ray from Unilever. Ray is from the Philippines and actually really into social media. Talked with him for like an hour or so about social media before the event started.

Ray and I with a Nuffnanger 🙂

And Ray with Yen-Nee, also from Unilever.

And the main organizing committee who planned the event that night. I just “tumpang glamour” only.

Jestina managed to make it too so here’s a picture of her with some of the Nuffie girls. Uhh gentlemen, Jestina the girl in the non-white dress is single and marriage material.

Throughout the night we had all sorts of things going on. In the beginning we had some ice-breaking games. At first everyone was like awkward and didn’t know each other and all but once the ice-breaker games started, everyone started mingling. Then we had dinner served.

And a great performance from Yuna and her band!

I managed to take a picture with her too.

Tehtarikmemoirs has a fixed memory in my mind from his “I wanna be an Alphanite” video. I have a confession. I actually tried to hire him to work in Nuffnang but he wanted to be a lawyer instead.

Here’s me with Diese and KuE!

Loved the way the night turned out. And here’s the tradition last photo with the Nuffies who were there that night (excluding a Vernice, Sara and Linda who had to leave right after it ended).
